This position requires a willingness to learn, a genuine desire to help others, and a natural understanding of the effects of addiction on an individual. CADCs work directly with clients to provide counseling and help them develop healthy coping mechanisms.
Responsibilities:
- Help individuals and families with an addiction to alcohol, drugs, or other substances.
- Provide individual, group, and/or family counseling to patients.
- Facilitate and lead SAIOP (Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program) group sessions in accordance with program guidelines.
- Refer patients to appropriate community organizations and outside programs.
- Explain addiction and its effects on the family.
- Identify issues and create individualized goals and treatment plans.
- Counsel patients on social issues including housing, employment, education, family issues, and basic living skills.
- Counsel individuals or families affected by substance abuse.
- Maintain appropriate clinical documentation and treatment records as required.
